Depa Agreement Text

The dissemination of dePA is key – if non-members considering problematic rules for the digital economy could be encouraged to adhere to it, the agreement is seen as a critical turning point for policy on digital issues. New Zealand today signed the first trade agreement focusing exclusively on digital economy issues. The CPTPP was the first agreement to establish a broad set of rules for regional digital trade. Similarly, the WTO e-commerce negotiations seek to establish a regulatory framework for digital trade at the international level. Negotiations with Singapore and Chile aim to see what could be possible through a “Scout agreement” in this area and to try to set the agenda of disciplines and commitments in digital trade.
